South Korean superstar Naga Chaitanya got engaged to his ladylove Sobhita Dhulipala on August 8, 2024. Earlier reports suggested that Naga Chaitanya’s maternal family had reservations about his engagement to Sobhita Dhulipala. To give some context, Naga Chaitanya is actor Nagarjuna’s son from his first marriage to Lakshmi Daggubati. The Daggubati family, also famous in the South Indian film industry, had warmly welcomed Naga’s first wife Samantha and many of them continue to show their support for her on social media.

However, according to reports, the equation is not the same between the Daggubati family and Naga Chaitanya’s second wife Sobhita. Reports suggest that members of the Daggubati family like Venkatesh Daggubati, Rana Daggubati and Malvika Daggubati do not follow Sobhita on social media. This has given rise to speculations about possible tensions between the Daggubati and Akkineni families.
Daggubati reportedly organized a tea party for Sobhita Dhulipala
A source close to both the families revealed that all these allegations and speculations about tensions between the two families are false. The source added that the Daggubati family had organized a tea party for Sobhita after her engagement to Naga Chaitanya. The source added:
“The Daggubati-Akkineni clan gathered at the Daggubati residence for a hearty tea, in the presence of Suresh Babu, Venkatesh and their families. It was a joyous occasion that highlighted the strong bond that exists between the two families.”

Nagarjuna Akkineni announced Chaitanya and Sobhita’s engagement via an X post
Speaking to X, Nagarjuna Akkineni posted two pictures from Chaitanya and Sobhita’s intimate engagement ceremony and wrote a beautiful note along with them. The loving father shared the details of the duo’s engagement, which took place at 9:42 am and also welcomed Sobhita into their family. He wished the couple a lifetime of love and happiness and wrote:
“We are delighted to announce the engagement of our son, Naga Chaitanya, to Sobhita Dhulipala, which took place this morning at 9:42 AM!! We are thrilled to welcome him into our family. Congratulations to the happy couple! We wish them a lifetime of love and happiness. God bless you! 8.8.8 A beginning of infinite love.”
In their engagement pictures, Sobhita looked stunning in a pink silk saree from the shelves of Manish Malhotra. She paired the saree with a matching blouse and opted for elegant gold jewellery to complete her look. Meanwhile, her fiancé Chaitanya wore an ivory-coloured white saree. kurta pajamas and a correspondence doshala.
